While morning determines the rest of our day, it is important to wake up to a healthy routine which is beneficial in terms of both physical as well as mental health. Consuming certain foods and fruits is equally important as avoiding certain types of food early in the morning while our system is still coping with the rest of the day!

Here is a list of 6 types of foods to avoid in the morning as per Ayurveda:
1. Heavy, oily food

Heavy, oily foods can be a toll on the digestive system. They might trigger acidity early in the morning and make you feel lethargic throughout the day.

2. Cold Aerated beverages

When we wake up, our body temperature is usually on the lower side. When we consume cold water, cold drinks or aerated drinks in the morning, our digestive system finds it difficult to digest and the body finds it difficult to rise the body temperature eventually.
As per Ayurveda, the fire of our digestive tract can slow down, and the Agni of the stomach can be weakened which can lead to slower digestion throughout the day!
3. Curd

As per Ayurveda, Curd and other dairy products should be avoided in the morning as they create mucus in the body which can lead to chronic colds and coughs in the chest.
The best time to consume curd is during lunchtime or with the afternoon meal.
4. Cold and Raw Foods

It’s best to avoid cold and Raw food like salad and raw vegetables early in the morning as these foods extinguish the fire of the stomach and hinders the digestive juices and acids present in the stomach. It even hinders the absorption of nutrients present in the food and makes it absolutely waste for the body.
The best time to consume salads and raw vegetables is before the heavy meal lunch. Before lunch salad acts as a water food which keeps the body hydrated and prevents overeating.
5. Fermented Foods

Fermented foods like pickles, fermented bread, vinegar-based food and dressings can be unhealthy for the digestive tract.
According to Ayurveda, fermented foods aggravate Pitta Dosha and disrupt digestion.
